Environmental Void Fill and Cushion Packaging

Green Light Products lead the way for international business in Wales

28th April 2015

Green Light is a market leading business. Developing and manufacturing biodegradable packaging, their products are used by companies sending products from warehouses to third parties, retail or directly to consumers all over the world.

Packaging plays an integral part in the exporting process. It cushions and protects products whilst in transit. All Green Lights’ products are biodegradable and offer an environmental benefit over traditional plastics.

2014 has been a memorable year for Green Light. As well as celebrating their 20th year in business, they were recently awarded the Made in Wales ‘Exporter of the Year 2014’ award.

The global packaging market presents vast opportunities for Green Light. It was decided back in 2008 that the business should explore international markets more vigorously. Already with an established and well-regarded reputation in the UK market since 1994, Managing Director Karl Yeo and his team enhanced their product range to make them more suitable for international markets, before embarking on international business development.

The first step was getting in touch with the Welsh Government who provided advice and support through the International Trade Development (IDT) programme.

Green Light has continued to build on their exports year on year utilising further Welsh Government support. As part of the Trade Mission programme they have visited markets such as the UAE, India, China, Malaysia and Singapore and for added support while overseas, Green Light have utilised the International Trade Opportunities (ITO) programme to set up a series of meetings with prospective clients.

“Export business was always on our radar, particularly when the global financial crisis came in 2008; if we hadn’t started exporting then the outlook would have been quite bleak and the Government have been key and instrumental in building an export model. We couldn’t have done it without them.” Karl Yeo, Managing Director, Green Light Products.
